Kielder Forest, Northumberland – New mountain biking trails have officially opened in Kielder Forest, enhancing the area’s reputation as a top destination for cyclists in the UK.
Forestry England has introduced a new 650-metre (0.4-mile) route at Deadwater Fell, aimed at riders with intermediate experience. In addition, a 565-metre (0.35-mile) trail has been upgraded to better serve expert-level mountain bikers.
Alex MacLennan of Forestry England said the improvements further establish Kielder as one of the country’s leading mountain biking spots.
“With routes for all skill levels, riders can grow their abilities while enjoying the stunning scenery of Kielder Forest,” he said. “There’s nothing quite like coming out of thick woodland to find panoramic views from the ridgelines—it’s an experience we hope keeps visitors returning.”
Tourism officials in Northumberland also welcomed the development. They said they hope the new trails will draw more cycling events and bring increased footfall to the region.
