Skydiving Instructor Dies After Jump West of Edmonton, RCMP Report

A skydiving instructor has died following an accident on Saturday morning west of Edmonton, according to the RCMP.

Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said police were called to a township road near Onoway, where a 56-year-old man from Edmonton was found with fatal injuries after jumping from a plane.

Savinkoff confirmed that the man was a skydiving instructor, and added that, while the incident appears to have been an accident and not suspicious, investigations are ongoing. Authorities from the RCMP, workplace safety officials, and the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office are all involved in the inquiry.

Other skydivers were present at the time of the jump, but no additional injuries have been reported.
