Kelly Slater set to compete as surfing’s elite gather at iconic California break.
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. – The World Surf League (WSL) Lexus Trestles Pro officially began its competition window on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the famed Lower Trestles surf break in San Clemente. Running through June 17, the event is stop No. 8 on the WSL Championship Tour and is crucial in the race toward the season finals.
The first official call for competition was made early Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. PT, during the WSL’s “Dawn Patrol” broadcast. However, due to less-than-ideal wave conditions, organizers announced at 11:15 a.m. that there would be no heats held that day. The next call is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 10.
The 2025 Lexus Trestles Pro marks a significant return to regular-season competition at Lower Trestles after several years as the one-day championship venue. Adding to the excitement this year is the return of 11-time world champion Kelly Slater, who will compete as a wildcard.
