GB Snowsport has revealed its cross-country skiing teams for the 2025/2026 season. The squad includes 21 athletes across four groups, making it the largest British team in recent years.
Five athletes will continue competing in the World Cup squad: James Clugnet, Joe Davies, Gabriel Gledhill, Andrew Musgrave, and Andrew Young. All five will also be part of Team Aker Daehlie, a private international team. Andrew Musgrave had a standout 2024/2025 season, earning a bronze medal at the Tour de Ski in Toblach and achieving several top-10 finishes at the World Championships in Trondheim.
Building Strength for Milan-Cortina
GB Snowsport is expanding its presence on the Continental Cup circuit with athletes like Beinn Horsfall and Tabitha Williams returning. They will be joined by 23-year-old Anna Pryce, who recently switched from the Canadian system.
The Performance squad has grown this season to include seven athletes, with William Hughes joining for the first time. Elke Hammerstein and Ewan McAdam have been promoted from the Junior squad after strong performances last winter.
Hammerstein also competed above her age group at the World Junior and U23 Championships, helping the team secure a top-10 finish in the U23 mixed relay with Williams and Gledhill.
Fresh Talent in the Junior Squad
The Junior squad features a mix of returning athletes and new names, highlighting ongoing development and international recruitment. Returning athletes Elspeth Cruickshank, Sophie Forth, and Rasmus Ipsen gained valuable experience at the European Youth Olympic Festival. New additions include Haakon Tveit and two athletes pending nationality changes: Rufus Hinks from the USA and Charlie Williams from Canada.
Additionally, Lewis Briscall and Jack Somerset will join Junior and Performance squad training groups as non-squad invitees. This move underscores GB Snowsport’s focus on nurturing emerging talent.
Preparing for Milan-Cortina 2026
This announcement marks a record team size and signals strong momentum as Britain prepares for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Last season’s breakthrough performances at World Cup, World Championship, and U23 events have set a solid foundation for the team.
GB Snowsport Performance Director Kearnan Myall praised the athletes’ dedication:
“This year’s Cross-Country squad is a really strong unit that we can rightly expect to see big things from coming into the new season. Last year saw some impressive results and performances across the board, and we know that this group of athletes and the team around them will be pushing themselves hard to go one better this year.”
The team will now focus on training camps across Europe and North America. They will also compete in roller ski events before the World Cup season begins in Ruka, Finland, at the end of November.
