The Swedish Ski Association has announced the selection of the junior national cross-country ski team for the 2025/2026 season. Ten young athletes will represent the Team Svenska Spel Junior National Team, preparing for a competitive winter ahead.
According to the official press release, the team will focus on training and development during the summer and fall, with the Junior World Championships in Trondheim as the season’s main event.
The training group is evenly split with five women and five men. Several new skiers have earned their spots through strong performances in both national and international competitions.
National team manager Anders Byström highlighted some of the team’s top performers. “Tage Börjesson dominated the BAUHAUS Cup last winter, winning every race he entered. Malva Nisén also impressed by winning gold at the Youth Olympics and securing the BAUHAUS Cup title on home snow,” he said.
The team is led by junior national coach Linda Danvind Malm. Byström emphasized the importance of combining education and athletic development. “Our goal is to build a strong foundation for the future. These athletes not only train together but also attend ski high schools where they balance education and sport.”
Looking ahead, the 2028 Junior World Championships will be held in Falun, Sweden. This year’s junior team will play a key role in building momentum and readiness for that event.
The team’s immediate plans include training camps and group sessions in locations such as Örnsköldsvik and Ulricehamn.
