Next week’s episode of Reuben: Life in the Dales will see Yorkshire farmer Reuben Owen face his fear of heights with a skydive over the scenic Yorkshire Dales.
The popular Channel 5 series returns for its second season, and in episode two, Reuben is joined by his 18-year-old brother Miles, who joins the farm as a new apprentice. Together, they tackle the task of excavating a large pond for their friend and fellow farmer, Adam. The chosen site lies in a deep valley prone to flooding, making it perfect for fishing. However, heavy rain soon turns the clay soil into a muddy bog, and when Miles’ digger becomes stuck axle-deep, experienced farmer Tommy is called in to assist.
Meanwhile, Reuben and Tommy return to a client’s barn to reinforce crumbling foundations uncovered during summer. Reuben soon finds himself carefully balancing massive limestone blocks, likening the effort to a giant game of Jenga, as he works to build a sturdy retaining wall.
In a surprising twist, Tommy, who recently turned 18, presents Reuben with a special gift—a chance to confront his fear of flying and heights by skydiving over their northern homeland. This is especially daunting for Reuben, who has never flown before.
Elsewhere, 150 miles away near Hull, Tommy faces a battle against fierce winds from an Atlantic hurricane as he secures a large haul of straw bales. Fellow young trucker Lizzie steps in to help him manage the challenging weather.
Back in the Dales, after a vintage tractor ride through the picturesque hills, Tommy convinces Reuben to enter a tractor pulling contest. The event will test the strength and endurance of their well-maintained tractors.
The second episode of Reuben: Life in the Dales series two will air on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 8 p.m. on Channel 5.
