Kent Women’s batter Jessica Bird is preparing to take on a 12,000-foot skydive this Sunday in support of the Mental Health Foundation. The jump, scheduled to take place in Headcorn, between Maidstone and Ashford, will mark the end of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

Bird is using the challenge to raise both funds and awareness for mental health issues. Donations can be made through her JustGiving page.

“Mental health is something I care deeply about, and raising money for the Mental Health Foundation will hopefully help support people who need it at any stage of their lives,” she said.

“Mental Health Awareness Week is a great initiative, and I want to do all I can to support it—even if it means jumping out of an aeroplane!”

She also expressed gratitude to anyone contributing to the campaign:

“Thank you in advance to anyone who donates—it means a lot!”

For those seeking more information on Mental Health Awareness Week or looking for support, resources are available through the Mental Health Foundation.

Earlier in the week, Kent seamer George Garrett also opened up about his own experiences with mental wellbeing as a professional athlete, highlighting the emotional challenges and pressures that come with elite sport.
