Professional skier Sage Cattabriga-Alosa seized a rare spring opportunity on May 12, carving through eight inches of fresh powder at Oregon’s Mt. Bachelor.
Cattabriga-Alosa, known for touring ski resorts alongside elite local skiers in his online series, made a solo appearance for this outing. He was drawn by the unexpected snowfall that transformed the late-season slopes into a winter wonderland.
“Spring is one of my favorite times of the year to ski, and I had been waiting for that surprise pow day that usually happens at least once per season. Yesterday was the day,” he said.
Typically joined by local pros in his videos, Cattabriga-Alosa deviated from the norm to capture the magic of mid-May snowfall on his own. The footage showcases pristine conditions and untracked lines rarely seen this late in the season.
Mt. Bachelor confirmed the surprise snowfall in a statement: “It’s a May Miracle! Eight inches of fresh pow fell overnight into today. There are just two weeks left in the season — get your spring laps while you can. We’re spinning daily through Memorial Day.”
The rare powder day highlights the unpredictable nature of spring skiing and the enduring appeal of Mt. Bachelor as a late-season destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
