Copper Mountain’s Woodward Copper summer hike park will open on June 7, offering freestyle skiers and snowboarders a chance to enjoy snow-laden terrain during the warmer months. The park, featuring various jibs and rails, will provide a refreshing escape from the summer heat.
Tickets for the park are priced at $25, and it will operate Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
The park is constructed using snow farmed from surrounding trails and Copper Mountain’s superpipe.
A Copper Mountain representative shared with POWDER that the park crew, who annually build the four-acre Woodward Summer Camp on-mountain terrain park, are skilled at creating skiable surfaces that withstand warmer temperatures.
While the resort is optimistic that the hike park will remain open throughout the summer season, which ends September 8, they noted that it is too early to confirm whether weather conditions will cooperate. Last year, the hike park remained open until mid-August.
The hike park will be located in Copper Mountain’s Center Village, positioned between the base terminals of the American Eagle and American Flyer chairlifts.
Copper Mountain concluded its winter operations on May 12, following an extended season. Summer operations, including hiking, mountain biking, and scenic lift rides, are set to begin on June 21.
