Mammoth Mountain has officially extended its ski season into June, making it one of the few ski resorts in North America to stay open that late this year.

As of May 8, 2025, the California resort announced it will keep lift-accessed skiing and snowboarding going beyond Memorial Day weekend, which was the original minimum closing timeframe listed on its website. While an exact closing date has not yet been set, the resort will continue to assess snow and weather conditions next week. Tickets are currently available through Sunday, June 8.

With this extension, Mammoth joins a small group of North American resorts offering skiing in June. Palisades Tahoe, another California resort known for late-season snow, plans to close after Memorial Day weekend. In Colorado, Arapahoe Basin is expected to remain open into next month, and Oregon’s Timberline Lodge, which typically operates through the summer, will also continue lift-served skiing. Beartooth Basin in Wyoming, a summer-only resort, is scheduled to open on May 26, depending on conditions.

The extended season at Mammoth also paves the way for “dual-sport days,” where visitors can ski in the morning and mountain bike in the afternoon. The resort’s bike park is set to open on May 23, giving adventurous guests the opportunity to enjoy both sports in one visit—if they have the stamina.

While Mammoth Mountain sees heavy snowfall during winter storms, it’s best known for its vibrant spring conditions when other resorts begin to shut down. This late-season period, which Mammoth calls its “Second Season,” is a favorite among dedicated skiers.

“Mammoth’s dedication to keeping the vibe alive, while producing the highest quality product simultaneously, was evident as I began to ski around the mountain,” wrote POWDER senior editor Matt Lorelli in June 2023. “It felt like the exact opposite of every spring skiing experience I’ve ever had.”

The length of Mammoth’s “Second Season” varies depending on snowpack and weather. In 2023, after a year of record snowfall, the resort stayed open until August 6. Last year, it closed on May 27.

With another round of spring skiing underway, Mammoth continues to offer one of the longest and most exciting seasons on the continent.
