Lake Country, B.C. — Riders of all ages came together Saturday to celebrate the official opening of a new bike park in Lake Country, marking a major addition to the community’s recreational offerings.

Located at 8865 Okanagan Centre Road West, the $500,000 facility is designed to welcome cyclists of all skill levels. The municipality says the park will serve as a space for recreation, skill-building, and outdoor fun.

“We are thrilled to open this incredible new amenity,” said Mayor Blair Ireland during the ceremony. “This project is a shining example of what can be accomplished when the community and the municipality come together to create something meaningful. This park will be a hub for recreation, skills development, and adventure tourism, benefiting residents and visitors alike while contributing to our local economy.”

The idea for the park emerged from a 2023 sports and recreation needs assessment by the District of Lake Country, which identified the bike park as a top community priority.

The project was completed through a partnership between trail builders Contour Trails, Wolsey Construction, and local biking groups. Lake Country Riders, who later joined with the Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan, played a key role in the park’s development.

Saturday’s grand opening featured demonstration rides by local cyclists, giving the public a first look at the park’s features. While the park had a soft opening at the end of March, this weekend’s event marked its official launch.
