BC Alpine Ski Association has secured a renewed five-year partnership with Teck Resources Limited, extending the longstanding collaboration aimed at supporting youth ski racing across British Columbia.

The new agreement, which takes effect this fall and will run through the 2030–2031 season, ensures Teck’s continued role as a major sponsor of ski events throughout the province. Teck, a Vancouver-based natural resources company, first partnered with BC Alpine in 2008 and has since been instrumental in developing the province’s alpine ski community.

Teck is best known as the title sponsor of the BC Alpine U14 and U16 provincial race series, which supports athletes aged 11 to 16. The company’s involvement helps sustain more than 50 ski races annually, hosted by BC Alpine’s 32 member clubs from December through April.

The partnership plays a crucial role in supporting more than 6,700 members of BC Alpine, with clubs located throughout the Kootenays, Okanagan, and other regions—including Revelstoke, Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, Rossland, and Golden.

“Living in British Columbia offers an incredible opportunity to enjoy nature through activities like skiing, and we are proud to support BC Alpine Ski Association’s initiatives that engage youth across the province,” said Carleigh Whitman, Teck’s head of social performance and Indigenous relations, in a statement.

According to BC Alpine, many Teck employees are personally involved in the ski community, either as volunteers or as parents of athletes.

BC Alpine CEO Anders Hestdalen emphasized that the organization’s ability to sustain programming through challenges over the years is due in large part to the strength of its partnership with Teck.

“We have very strong grassroots programming and medalists thanks to our Teck partnership,” said Hestdalen. “This renewed commitment will help us continue that success for another five years.”

The agreement underscores both organizations’ commitment to fostering youth development in winter sport and ensuring continued access to high-quality training and competition opportunities across the province.
