The popular Scandinavian Team Battle is set to make a comeback on June 14, 2025, at Copenhill, Denmark’s large dry slope and one of Europe’s premier ski venues. Known for its electric atmosphere and high-level skiing, the event is a highlight of the summer freeski calendar.
Since its launch four years ago, the Scandinavian Team Battle has drawn strong crowds and fierce competition. This year, event coordinator and Team Denmark competitor Jakob Ebskamp is introducing a notable change to the format that promises to shake things up.
For the first time, an Open Qualifier Rail Jam will take place on the same day as the main event. This free qualifier offers a chance for emerging freeskiers to compete in front of a top judge, none other than Jesper Tjäder. Although Tjäder won’t compete due to injury, he will bring his expertise to judge the contest. The two best riders from the qualifier will secure a place on a sixth team in the main competition and receive VIP passes to the afterparty.
Five national teams are confirmed to compete, along with the Open Qualifier winners forming the sixth team. Historically, Team Sweden has dominated the event, but with Tjäder stepping back and Joel Magnusson taking the lead, the competition looks more open than ever.
Notably, Team USA will not participate this year. Meanwhile, a new Team France will make their debut, aiming to claim victory in their first appearance.
The Scandinavian Team Battle is celebrated not just for its innovative course and thrilling skiing but also for the strong community spirit it fosters. Ebskamp emphasized the event’s broader significance: “The Scandinavian Team Battle is more than just skiing on plastic—it’s a celebration of the culture, the city, and the local community.
