Sutton, Quebec — Mont Sutton, one of the top ski resorts for glade skiing in the Northeast, announced plans to install a new chairlift for the 2026-27 winter season.
The resort revealed that the new quad chairlift will be located on the west side of the mountain. It will have the capacity to carry 2,400 riders per hour and will include a loading conveyor for smoother boarding. This new lift will replace three older double chairlifts currently serving that part of the resort. It is designed to provide easy access to the family zone, targeting families and beginner skiers and snowboarders. Notably, this will be the first chairlift installation by Skytrac in Canada.
In addition to the new chairlift, the project will improve the beginner area by adding a new magic carpet lift and relocating the existing one. The resort will also upgrade snowmaking equipment on the west side. The total investment for these enhancements is estimated at $8 million CAD.
Mont Sutton is located in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. The resort covers 230 skiable acres and has a vertical drop of 1,500 feet. It is well known for its tree skiing, with 45% of its trails featuring gladed terrain.
Beyond winter sports, Mont Sutton offers a range of summer activities, including scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, mountain biking, hiking, ziplining, and camping. Thanks to funding from the Quebec provincial government, the resort also plans to add RFID lift gates, glamping sites, and expand its open-air museum in the near future.
