A 15-year-old South Tyrolean skier attending the Stams sports high school was seriously injured during a training session on the Tiefenbachferner glacier in Tyrol.
The accident occurred when the young athlete lost control while skiing with his training group. He went off the designated track and ended up on a slope with artificial bumps, where he fell violently.
Emergency teams responded quickly. Trainers on site, specialists from the Sölden cable cars, and an emergency helicopter crew provided immediate first aid. The Austrian air rescue service then airlifted the boy to a hospital.
The young skier is currently in critical but stable condition at the University Clinic of Innsbruck. Medical staff are closely monitoring his vital signs as he receives specialized care.
Authorities continue to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
