SANTA MONICA, CA — Some of the world’s top professional skateboarders will gather at the Santa Monica Pier this Friday for a major Street League Skateboarding (SLS) competition, featuring high-profile athletes and a custom-built course at one of skateboarding’s most iconic venues.
Among the elite skaters set to compete are Nyjah Huston, Chris Joslin, Yuto Horigome, Alex Midler, and Chloe Covell. A wildcard jam will also showcase top talents such as Ryan Sheckler—often cited as one of the greatest street skaters of all time—alongside Lazer Crawford and Elijah Berle. According to event organizers, the top two performers from the wildcard round will advance to the finals.
The event is open to the public and free to attend. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, with gates opening at 2 p.m.
The men’s wildcard jam kicks off at 3 p.m., followed by the women’s final at 4:15 p.m., and the men’s final at 5:30 p.m.
This marks the first-ever “spot takeover” event by SLS. The competition will take place on a specially designed course constructed on the Santa Monica Pier and will feature the famous triple set stairs—an iconic local skate spot. Organizers say the event honors Santa Monica’s influential role in the evolution of street skateboarding.
In addition to the action on the course, several food vendors will be on site, including Prince St. Pizza, Miya Miya Shawarma, Villa’s Tacos, and 27 Club Coffee, offering a variety of food and drinks for spectators.
Street League Skateboarding was founded in 2010 by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek, who created the league to raise global recognition and support for street skateboarding as a professional sport.
Friday’s event promises a full day of elite competition, community celebration, and a tribute to the culture and history of skateboarding in Southern California.
