SANTA MONICA, CA — The Santa Monica Pier will transform into a skateboarding arena on Friday as some of the sport’s most elite athletes compete for the coveted Street League Skateboarding (SLS) title.
World-renowned skaters, including Nyjah Huston, Chris Joslin, Yuto Horigome, Alex Midler, and Chloe Covell, are slated to participate in the high-profile event. The competition will also feature a wildcard jam, where veterans like Ryan Sheckler—considered among the greatest in street skateboarding—will face off alongside Lazer Crawford and Elijah Berle. According to organizers, the top two performers from the wildcard round will secure spots in the finals.
Admission is free, and fans are encouraged to arrive early, with gates opening at 2 p.m. The men’s wildcard jam kicks off at 3 p.m., followed by the women’s final at 4:15 p.m. and the men’s final at 5:30 p.m.
This event marks the first-ever “spot-takeover” hosted by SLS. Skaters will compete on a custom-built course located directly on the Santa Monica Pier, incorporating the venue’s iconic triple set stairs—one of the city’s most storied skate spots. SLS officials say the event is designed to honor Santa Monica’s deep-rooted influence on skateboarding culture.
Founded in 2010 by professional skater Rob Dyrdek, the SLS was created to elevate street skateboarding and bring it to a global audience. This Friday’s competition is expected to draw fans, families, and skating enthusiasts for an action-packed showcase of top-tier talent.
