Vail Resorts makes bold European push as major Austrian destination joins Epic Pass.
In a major move for the upcoming 2025-26 ski season, Vail Resorts has announced the addition of Sölden to its Epic Pass network. The resort, one of Austria’s most iconic ski destinations, becomes the sixth new Austrian partner added in just five days. This marks a significant shift for Epic, which had seen relatively few changes in recent years.
Sölden will offer five days of access to Epic Pass holders, without requiring those days to be consecutive. This sets it apart from the five other new Austrian resorts announced earlier this week, which do impose such limits.
With a vertical drop of 6,529 feet and Austria’s longest ski trail, Sölden is a major addition. It is now the 12th Austrian ski resort to join a U.S.-based multi-mountain pass, the 32nd resort in Europe, and the 82nd outside North America to do so. Globally, it becomes the 121st resort outside the United States in the Epic Pass network.
In total, 17 new mountains have joined U.S.-based multi-resort passes for the 2025-26 season, 11 of them located outside the United States. Notably, eight of those are in Austria, a country considered a key player in the global ski industry.
This sudden expansion suggests a possible shift in the European ski market, as more of the continent’s major resorts begin aligning with global pass products like Epic. With Europe accounting for over half of the world’s skier visits, Vail’s aggressive move may spark further partnerships across the region.
Sölden’s addition is seen as a landmark moment in this growing trend and a major gain for Epic Pass holders, who will now have access to one of Austria’s most celebrated ski destinations.
