The Da Nang People’s Committee has announced a comprehensive plan to organize and develop water recreation and entertainment activities, aiming to boost tourism and make greater use of the city’s marine and river resources.
Under the plan, both motorised and non-motorised watercraft will be permitted, provided they meet strict quality, technical safety, and environmental standards. Approved motorised vehicles include jet skis, parasailing boats, banana boats, and windsurfing boards, as well as other types that comply with current regulations. Non-motorised equipment such as windsurfing boards, kite surfing gear, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUP), and personal flotation boards will also be allowed.
Designated zones for these activities have been selected based on favorable natural conditions, low ecological impact, and strategic considerations for safety and defense. The approved areas include the Hoang Sa – Vo Nguyen Giap – Truong Sa coastal route, the Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal route, the coastline along Hai Van Pass, the Son Tra Peninsula, and the Han River section between the Han River Bridge and Tran Thi Ly Bridge. These locations have been earmarked for tourism development and are equipped with essential infrastructure, making them suitable for organized recreational operations.
The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to leverage Da Nang’s coastal and riverine assets in creating a diverse range of tourism experiences. It is designed to appeal to both domestic and international tourists, cater to the recreational needs of residents, and contribute significantly to the city’s economic growth.
The implementation period for the plan spans from 2025 to 2030. During this time, city authorities will evaluate the evolving needs of businesses, residents, and tourists, and make necessary adjustments to ensure the program remains effective and legally compliant.
