JACKSON, Wyo. — Will Wicherski, Nordic program director for the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club (JHSC), has been honored as the Cross Country Development Coach of the Year. The award was presented at the 2025 U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS) annual Congress held in Park City, Utah. USSS is the national governing body for Olympic and Paralympic skiing and snowboarding.
In recognizing Wicherski’s achievements, USSS praised his “exceptional leadership and commitment to growing the sport.”
The organization highlighted that under his direction, the Jackson Hole Ski Club has expanded in size and competitive strength, establishing him as a leading figure in cross country skiing development.
Wicherski, who grew up in Boise, Idaho, brings extensive experience as both a Nordic athlete and coach, including time spent living and competing in Norway. He began coaching at JHSC in 2016 and assumed the role of Nordic program director in 2020. This year, three student-athletes from the Nordic program are set to attend and compete at Division 1 NCAA colleges.
Following the award announcement, Wicherski expressed gratitude for the honor. “This award is great to receive, and I feel very grateful for the recognition,” he said. He also credited the other coaches and athletes who have helped shape the program over the past five years. “It shows that the whole country is paying attention to the incredible and special program with the Nordic community we have in Jackson Hole, along with the good work we are all doing on behalf of the athletes.”
The USSS noted Wicherski’s dedication to fostering a fun and inclusive team culture where athletes are encouraged to push their limits and develop both on and off the snow. His coaching has supported standout performances by JHSC athletes, and he served as the national U16 camp coordinator in 2024, among many other accomplishments.
