The East Sack County Relay Race in Sack City achieved exciting results, winning championships in both the women’s and men’s events. The women’s team of Manson Northwest Webster emerged victorious, while the men’s team of Southeast Valley demonstrated their athletic ability in the track and field competition and won the top award.
In the girls’ event, the Manson Northwest Webster Cougars secured the championship, narrowly edging out the host team, the East Sac County Raiders. The Jaguars from Southeast Valley finished in third place. Key to the Cougars’ success were several outstanding individual performances. Kyla Egli dominated the 100 hurdles, Tia Brennan triumphed in the 1,500, and Elissa Anderson claimed victory in the shot put, leading their team to the coveted first-place finish.
The East Sac County team also had a strong showing, with Wendy Veit shining as a multi-event champion. Veit not only won the 400 and long jump but was also a crucial part of the team’s shuttle hurdle and 4×400 relay victories, contributing significantly to their overall score. Southeast Valley’s Camryn Lane added to her team’s success by winning the 400, and the Jaguars also took the gold in the 4×800 relay. Mya Ridgely of South Central Calhoun emerged victorious in the 200, while Tristin Gorden excelled in the discus, further highlighting the competitiveness of the girls’ field.
In the boys’ race, Southeast Valley demonstrated their strength, surpassing Ridge View and East Sac County to claim the championship. Manson NW finished in fifth place. The Jaguar boys had an impressive lineup of winners. Dreyvon Steadman sprinted to victory in the 100, Colin Johnson dominated the 110 hurdles, and Kayden Showers emerged victorious in the 200. Additionally, the Southeast Valley team excelled in the relays, with their 4×100, 4×400, and shuttle hurdle relay teams all crossing the finish line first.
Riley Aragon of the Raiders achieved a remarkable win in the 3,200, while the Cougars had their own successes. Matt Condon won the high jump, and the team’s 4×800-meter relay secured a victory. Jace Pederson of the Titans added to the excitement by winning the shot put, rounding out an action-packed boys’ competition.
The East Sac County Relays proved to be a showcase of talent and determination, with the Manson Northwest Webster girls and Southeast Valley boys standing tall as champions. Their victories will surely inspire future athletes and serve as a testament to their hard work and dedication.
