Top international skaters head to Italy for Olympic points at the Colle Oppio Skate Park.
ROME — The World Skateboarding Tour (WST) will kick off its 2025 season at the Colle Oppio Skate Park in Rome, Italy, from June 1 to 8. This high-profile event marks the first of five confirmed stops on the global tour and plays a key role in the qualification process for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The WST is recognized as the world’s leading competitive circuit for both park and street skateboarding. Its opening event in Rome promises a dramatic backdrop, taking place near the historic Colosseum, and is expected to attract some of the sport’s biggest stars.
More than 150 athletes from around the world will compete in both men’s and women’s park and street events. The competition begins with open qualifiers, leading to a final round featuring the top eight skaters who will compete for crucial ranking points.
Colle Oppio Skate Park, designed to support advanced maneuvers, is an ideal venue for the event. Its layout supports high-flying tricks, technical grinds, and creative skating, providing a world-class platform for both seasoned athletes and rising stars.
The Rome stop is organized by World Skate, the sport’s governing body officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The event is expected to set the tone for the rest of the tour and Olympic qualification season.
The competition will feature prominent names such as Japan’s 2024 Olympic medalists Yoshizawa Coco and Yuto Horigome, who continue to lead in the street discipline. Australia’s Keegan Palmer and Arisa Trew, both gold medalists in Paris 2024, are also returning to defend their dominance.
Team USA’s Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston will also compete, aiming for top finishes with their high-level technical skills. The open format of the qualifiers allows for new talents to emerge, making each event unpredictable and exciting.
In addition to the competitions, the Rome event will offer a festival-style experience. Fans can enjoy live music, skateboarding clinics, and vibrant street art displays. In 2024, the World Skate Games drew more than 12,000 fans, and organizers hope to exceed that number in 2025.
