Banff Sunshine Village in Alberta, Canada, has announced an extension of its spring skiing and snowboarding season, now running until Monday, May 19, 2025. This gives winter sports enthusiasts an extra two weeks to enjoy the resort’s famous spring conditions.
Ideal Spring Skiing Conditions
Banff Sunshine Village is famous for its long ski seasons, typically running from early November to late May. Its high elevation and consistent snowfall—averaging up to nine meters (30 feet) annually—ensure excellent conditions for skiing. Located on the Continental Divide, the resort benefits from reliable snow quality, making it a prime location for spring skiing.
“Spring shines at Banff Sunshine,” said Kendra Scurfield, Vice President of Brand and Communications at the resort. “Spring is my personal favorite time of year. The snow is perfect, the weather is warm, and the village atmosphere is fantastic.”
Events to Celebrate the Extended Season
To mark the extension of its season, Banff Sunshine Village has scheduled a series of events:
Leg Burner Banked Slalom (May 17): In partnership with Snowboard Canada and Paralympic medalist Tyler Turner, this all-ages charity event invites snowboarders of all levels to participate. Proceeds will benefit Canadian Paralympic Snowboard Athletes.
