Hatley Pointe Mountain Resort, formerly known as Wolf Ridge Ski Resort, has announced plans to open a lift-served mountain bike park, transforming the property into a year-round destination. Located in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, the resort is working to introduce a new era of outdoor adventure with a professionally designed trail system set to debut in spring 2026.

The resort has partnered with Elevated Trail Design to develop the bike park. Construction on the first phase is already underway, with crews actively shaping the terrain. The initial phase will feature nine trails designed to cater to a wide range of skill levels. These will include a green trail for beginners, a blue trail for intermediate riders, and a black trail offering more technical challenges. The trails will intersect and connect, allowing riders to mix and match routes for a more personalized experience.

“Phase 1 of our bike park is well underway, and we couldn’t be more excited,” Hatley Pointe shared in a recent update. “We’re working with Elevated Trail Design to offer the best mix of difficulty levels, flow, tech, and dynamic features. We can’t wait to see you all on the trails in spring 2026!”

The terrain at Hatley Pointe is naturally suited for mountain biking, offering a steep 700-foot vertical drop, natural flow lines, and rugged features like road gaps and rock spines. According to resort officials, these characteristics inspired the early concept for the bike park soon after the property’s ownership changed.

Deb Hatley, owner and CEO of Hatley Pointe, said the goal has always been to reimagine the resort beyond winter sports.

“From the moment we purchased the resort, we knew this place had the potential to be more than just a winter destination,” Hatley explained. “There’s something special about this mountain, and we want people to experience it in every season.”

Situated just 35 minutes from Asheville and within close proximity to East Tennessee, Hatley Pointe is the closest ski resort to that region. Its location is one of its key advantages as the team moves toward offering more than just seasonal ski experiences. The resort aims to combine adventure, hospitality, and unique outdoor activities to attract visitors year-round.

The bike park project reflects that mission. Hatley Pointe’s collaboration with Peter Mills, founder of Elevated Trail Design, was a natural fit. Mills, who is familiar with the local terrain, approached the resort shortly after its rebranding. His company brings extensive experience in building sustainable trail systems that work in harmony with the landscape.

“Peter reached out not long after we announced the purchase,” Hatley noted. “He’s from the area and knows this terrain better than anyone. His team is incredibly skilled, and they share our values of honoring the land and building something sustainable.”

With construction progressing steadily and a projected opening set for spring 2026, Hatley Pointe is poised to become one of Western North Carolina’s premier mountain biking destinations. The resort continues to expand its offerings with a long-term vision of becoming a four-season hub for outdoor recreation and mountain hospitality.
