PALISADES TAHOE, Calif. – Palisades Tahoe remains the only ski resort in the Tahoe region operating daily this spring, with skiing and riding available through Memorial Day, May 26, weather permitting. Following the closure of Alpine Meadows on April 27, most skiing is focused on the upper mountain, where the KT-22 lift continues to run and is expected to stay open daily through next weekend.
Starting Monday, May 5, lift hours shift to open at 8 a.m., with upper mountain lifts closing at 1 p.m. and KT-22 running until 2 p.m. This schedule aims to maximize skiing on the best snow conditions, which are affected by warm daytime temperatures in the 50s and 60s and overnight lows in the 30s and 40s. These warmer nights speed snowmelt, especially on lower mountain runs, exposing rocks and grass. Skiers and snowboarders are urged to watch for hazards and obey all closed terrain signs.
A highlight of the spring season, the annual Cushing Crossing pond skimming contest, has been rescheduled to May 10 to ensure sunny weather for the event. Palisades Tahoe is also offering $75 lift tickets to first responders, passholders from other resorts, and industry employees with valid ID to encourage more visitors to enjoy the extended season.
Known as the “Spring Skiing Capital,” Palisades Tahoe boasts the longest ski season in the Lake Tahoe area. The resort hosts a variety of signature spring events, including snow golf, races, and themed weekends, creating a lively atmosphere for guests beyond just skiing. The terrain parks remain a popular feature, with new elements added regularly to keep the experience fresh.
With a base elevation of 6,200 feet and peaks reaching over 9,000 feet, Palisades Tahoe offers terrain for all skill levels, from gentle groomed runs to challenging double-black diamonds. The resort’s commitment to spring skiing ensures that enthusiasts can enjoy quality snow and vibrant mountain culture well into late May.
