PEMBROKESHIRE, WALES — A beloved community surf event is making its long-awaited return to Pembrokeshire this June. The Tag Team Surf Shootout, organized by Blue Horizons Adventures in collaboration with the Manorbier Castle Inn and the local community, will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Manorbier Beach.

More than 40 surfers have already registered for the event, which is being run with support from the team behind the former Pembrokeshire Surf Ryders (PSR) competitions. This year’s shootout will include a new adaptive surfing category, designed to welcome participants of all abilities. Adaptive surfers will be supported in the water by trained team members and event organizers.

The event was last held 13 years ago. All proceeds and donations from this year’s competition will help fund future inclusive surf events in the region.

In addition to multiple surf heats, the day will feature a community beach clean, local refreshments, and prize giveaways sponsored by both local and national surf brands. Festivities will continue into the evening with an awards ceremony at the Manorbier Castle Inn, where live music from Manocassa, sets by local DJs, and complimentary food will keep the celebration going.

Entry is just £5 for competitors, and attendance is free for spectators. Registration opens at 2 p.m., with surfing scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will start at 7 p.m.

Ollie Bird of Blue Horizons Adventures said the event aims to bring people together through a shared love of surfing. “The event celebrates local talent and promotes accessibility, ensuring everyone—regardless of background or ability—can take part,” he said.

“We’ve been blown away by the community’s support. Local photographers are capturing the day for free, a local artist designed the event logo, and everyone involved has the same goal—fun in the surf for all.”

In support of the event, the National Parks Authority has agreed to replace parking charges with a donation-based system, with all proceeds going to the Tenby Surf Lifesavers Club.

Local sponsors including Barti Rum and The Port of Milford Haven have donated prizes for the event.
