Tervel Zamfirov, a world champion in alpine snowboarding, has achieved another remarkable feat in student sports. On Thursday, he claimed victory in the judo under 73 kg category at the National University Games.
This win adds to his impressive achievements, following his gold medal performance at the 2025 Winter World University Games in Turin, where he took first place in the parallel giant slalom snowboarding event.
Representing the University of Forestry in Sofia, Zamfirov defeated David Mironov, Veselin Ivanov, Pavel Vasilev, and Ivan Dragulev to secure the gold medal.
This marks his second consecutive title in judo at the National Universiade.
The 2025 competition, hosted by Trakia University, is taking place from May 7 to 11, with over 2,000 students competing across 16 sports. The finals for several events, including football, handball, cricket, and sport climbing, are being held in Sofia.
