The Halifax Regional Municipality has announced that the Emera Oval will officially open for the summer season on Saturday, May 31, offering residents a wide range of outdoor recreational activities.
Located on the Halifax Commons, the Oval features a large concrete surface ideal for biking, rollerskating, skateboarding, and in-line skating. To encourage participation, the municipality is once again offering free rentals of bikes, scooters, skateboards, and helmets. All rentals require valid identification, and helmets are mandatory for everyone using the facility.
E-powered and Segway-style devices are not permitted for safety reasons.
In addition to regular activities, the municipality will host a special Rec Day event at the Oval on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature family-friendly attractions such as face painting, inflatable games, and program demonstrations.
Several community partners will also take part in the festivities, including Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Fire & Emergency, Speedy Kids, Disc Golf Nova Scotia, Halifax Tides FC, Sportball Nova Scotia, and Athletics Nova Scotia. Visitors can also access public washrooms and first aid services on-site during regular hours.
