MARGARET RIVER, AUSTRALIA — As the 2025 Margaret River Pro moves into the semifinal stage, surf fans could witness a rare showdown between two American brothers on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Griffin and Crosby Colapinto, both competing on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour, are on track to meet in the finals—if each can win their upcoming semifinal heats. The Margaret River Pro, held in Western Australia, is the seventh stop on this year’s WSL Tour.
Griffin secured his semifinal spot with a dominant performance in the quarterfinals. He posted a combined score of 16.33, highlighted by a flawless 10.00 ride and a 6.33, to edge out Italy’s Leonardo Fioravanti, who scored 15.73.
Reflecting on his perfect score, Griffin told the WSL: “It was one of the most incredible moments of my life.”
If Crosby also wins his semifinal, the Margaret River Pro could mark the first time the Colapinto brothers face each other in a WSL final—setting the stage for a historic family duel.
The Margaret River Pro continues this week, drawing global attention as the competition heads toward what could be a memorable finish.
