Mount Hood, Oregon — Snowboarding legend Shaun White is set to make an appearance at Mount Hood this June, teaming up with U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s Project Gold program. White will participate in a day of the weeklong High Cascade Snowboard Camp and Windells Freeski Camp, held at Hood’s Wy’East Mountain Academy.
This collaboration marks the next phase of White’s involvement with High Cascade, where he is already an investor. The camp holds personal significance for White, who attended it during his youth.
The announcement came via the Sports Business Journal, following White’s speaking engagement at the SBJ’s 4se event in New York City on May 20-21, 2025. He shared the stage with notable sports figures, including former NFL players Michael Strahan and the McCourty brothers, as well as MLB’s Uzma Rawn Dowler.
U.S. Ski and Snowboard’s Project Gold Camps aim to unite emerging snowboarders and freeskiers for intensive training. The camps feature cutting-edge facilities, such as an Olympic-level dry slope and an airbag training system supplied by Austrian company Banger Bags.
The upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy will be the first Games without White’s presence since his debut in 2006—also held in Italy. White has openly acknowledged this milestone, telling USA Today’s Tom Schad that while he occasionally feels the urge to compete, he has no plans to return to competition like ski racer Lindsey Vonn.
“I’m excited and happy for the next generation coming through and what they’re going to do at this next Games,” White said. “But yeah, there will be some part of me that’s a little like ‘ugh’—wanting to compete and wanting to ride.”
Instead, White has shifted his focus toward growing the sport through new ventures. His professional halfpipe league, The Snow League, launched on March 7, 2025, at Buttermilk in Aspen. The league features a $1.6 million prize pool and a season-long points system modeled after NASCAR and professional golf.
The Snow League has already reached several milestones, securing a live broadcast deal with NBC Sports. The contests air live on the Peacock streaming platform and later on television. The league also boasts an all-star broadcast team including Chris Grenier, Todd Richards, Jac Collinsworth, and Tina Dixon.
This broadcast success paved the way for the creation of a snowboarding docuseries, inspired by popular shows like Drive to Survive and Full Swing on Netflix. Through these efforts, White continues to expand snowboarding’s reach and inspire the next generation of athletes.
