Jackson Hole, WY — Owen Leeper, a local skier, found a way to enjoy a late-season run at Snow King Mountain Resort on May 17, 2025. Despite the mix of snow and grass, Leeper embraced the challenge, humorously calling it an “East coast pow day.”
“Is it still skiing if there’s more grass than snow? Probably my last lap on Snow King for the season, but plenty of snow up high. Are you still getting after it?” Leeper said.
His willingness to ski on patchy terrain highlights the dedication of diehard skiers who seek out the final snow remnants before the season ends.
Although Snow King’s lift-serviced ski season has officially ended, the resort has opened its scenic gondola rides. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the Grand Tetons, the National Elk Refuge, Jackson town, and even Yellowstone National Park on clear days.
Leeper’s late-season effort is a fitting tribute to the passion that keeps the skiing community alive even as winter fades.
