DENVER — Three standout athletes from the University of Denver’s storied skiing program have been nominated to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Team for the 2025–26 season, marking another milestone in their careers.

Sophomore Liv Moritz has been named to the Women’s Alpine C Team, while DU alumni Katie Hensien and Jett Seymour earned spots on the Women’s Alpine A Team and Men’s Alpine B Team, respectively. All nominations were made according to official selection criteria, with final team confirmations expected in September.

Rising Star: Liv Moritz

Moritz, a native of Vail, Colorado, redshirted the 2025 collegiate season but has maintained her momentum after a breakout freshman year in 2024. That season, she claimed four top-10 finishes, her first career victory, and first-team All-American honors.

She made her FIS Alpine World Cup debut in giant slalom at Kronplatz, Italy, on January 21. She also competed in Sestriere, Italy, in both slalom and GS in late February. Moritz raced in four Europa Cup events and helped the U.S. team secure a bronze medal in the team parallel slalom at the FIS Junior World Championships.

Katie Hensien Returns Strong

Former NCAA champion Katie Hensien, who won the women’s slalom title in 2022, returned to top-level competition in 2025 after missing the previous year due to injury.

She made an emphatic comeback with a career-best fourth-place finish in GS at Soelden, Austria, in October. Hensien went on to collect seven top-30 finishes on the World Cup tour, including two top-15 results.

Representing Team USA at the 2025 FIS World Championships in Saalbach, Austria, she helped the Americans finish 10th in the team combined and placed 22nd in GS individually. She closed her season with two strong showings at the U.S. National Championships in Vail, placing second in slalom and fourth in GS.

Jett Seymour Shows Consistency

Fellow DU alum and 2019 NCAA men’s slalom champion, Jett Seymour, continued his presence on the World Cup stage, achieving four top-30 finishes this past winter.

Among his highlights was a 13th-place finish in slalom at Alta Badia, Italy, on December 23. Seymour also competed in the World Championships, finishing 15th in the team combined and 21st in slalom.

He wrapped up his season with a fourth-place finish in slalom at the U.S. Alpine National Championships on April 1.

Olympic Dreams on the Horizon

With the 2026 Winter Olympics set for Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, in February, the upcoming season holds added significance.

The FIS Alpine World Cup season kicks off in October, giving these athletes the stage to solidify their Olympic aspirations.

These nominations reflect the University of Denver’s continued excellence in alpine skiing and its role in shaping the next generation of U.S. Olympic hopefuls.
