Fans of Sea to Sky mountain biking may recall Mikey Delesalle’s impressive performance last summer at Crankworx Whistler, where he upset former King of Crankworx Tuhoto-Ariki Pene in the dual slalom event. Now, Delesalle is preparing for his downhill World Cup elite debut in Loudenvielle, France.
Delesalle will compete as part of Gwin Racing, one of six wildcard teams invited to the UCI Mountain Bike World Series event. The team is led by five-time World Cup overall champion Aaron Gwin, who continues to compete at a high level at age 37.
Joining Delesalle and Gwin is teammate Gavin Tomlinson, both eager to make their mark in the upcoming competition.
Other wildcard teams include The Alliance, featuring Jackson Connelly; Rogue Racing – SR Suntour with Thibaut Daprela; Kenda NS Bikes UR Team with Kye A’Hearn; Goodman Santacruz led by Thomas Estaque; and Team High Country.
The downhill World Cup event in Loudenvielle is scheduled from May 30 to June 1.
