SANTIAGO, Chile — Ski Portillo, one of the most iconic ski resorts in the Southern Hemisphere, has officially announced it will open for the 2025 season on June 21. The resort plans to welcome skiers and snowboarders through September 27, depending on snow and weather conditions.
This announcement comes as early snow begins to blanket the Andes, setting the stage for what Ski Portillo hopes will be another successful season following a record-breaking start in 2024.
Renowned for its picturesque setting and self-contained layout, Ski Portillo is centered around the bright yellow Hotel Portillo, nestled at the base of the mountain. The hotel underwent renovations in 2019, and the resort is continuing to upgrade other lodges on the property, including the Chalets, Inca Lodge, and Octagon Lodge, in preparation for the upcoming winter.
Ski Portillo also maintains a strong connection to the global ski racing community. Ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina, several international Olympic teams have already scheduled training sessions at the resort. The resort has a proud legacy in competitive skiing, having hosted the 1966 FIS World Championships — the only time the event has been held in South America. Past elite athletes such as Ted Ligety, Mikaela Shiffrin, Lindsey Vonn, and Bode Miller have trained on its slopes.
Guests at Portillo can choose from a range of accommodations as part of the resort’s signature seven-day ski week packages.
Prices start at $3,050 per person for a double occupancy Valley View room at Hotel Portillo. A four-person room in the Octagon Lodge begins at $2,050, while budget-friendly hostel-style options at the Inca Lodge start at $1,550. Each package includes lodging, four daily meals, eight days of lift access, and access to the resort’s amenities.
Portillo also offers a variety of themed events and promotions during the season. Families can take advantage of Kids Ski Free Weeks from June 21 to July 19 and again from August 30 to September 27, allowing one child to ski free with each full-paying adult. Additionally, the resort will host two Wine Weeks — from July 26 to August 2 and August 23 to 30 — which include complimentary après-ski wine tastings featuring top Chilean vineyards.
With fresh snowfall already arriving and major updates underway, Ski Portillo is gearing up for what could be another landmark season in the Southern Hemisphere.
