Park City, Utah — U.S. Ski & Snowboard has officially nominated 21 athletes to the 2025-26 Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team. Among those selected is Colby College’s own Jack Young.
“I am very excited about being nominated,” Young said. “I have known for a few months that I would make the team, but it’s a great feeling to have it officially announced.”
Young, a senior, delivered strong performances during the NCAA Championships this past season. He also competed in the World Championships and World Cup. In addition to being named to the Men’s B Team, Young recently earned the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team’s Most Improved Male award.
“Jack’s skiing career at Colby has been remarkable,” said Tracey Cote, head coach of Colby Nordic Skiing. “Seeing him race in World Cups and World Championships while maintaining strong collegiate results and academic success speaks volumes about his work ethic. Jack is an incredible leader who has set a new standard for Colby skiers. We are excited to follow his career with the U.S. Ski Team and proud to call him a Colby Mule.”
After graduating this May, Young has already begun intensive training in various locations across the country.
“This summer, I’ll return to Craftsbury, Vermont, to train with the Green Racing Project,” Young said. “I’ve trained there most of my life and am excited to start a new chapter after graduation. In June, I’ll attend a US Ski Team camp on Eagle Glacier in Alaska, followed by another camp in Park City, Utah, in October. Outside of that, I’ll stay in Craftsbury until the season begins. During the competition season, I’ll race on the World Cup circuit with the goal of qualifying for the Olympics.”
The 2025-26 FIS Cross Country World Cup schedule will be finalized by the International Ski Federation in June 2025. The season will conclude with the Stifel World Finals, set to take place in Lake Placid, New York.
An official announcement from the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team is expected in early fall.
