ROME, Italy – June 9, 2025 — Fourteen-year-old Egoitz Bijueska of Bilbao, Spain, made skateboarding history this weekend by winning first place in the Men’s Skateboard Park competition at the World Skateboarding Tour (WST) World Cup in Rome. The event, sanctioned by World Skate, the sport’s official Olympic governing body, featured top international athletes competing in both street and park disciplines.
Bijueska, a Monster Army team rider, delivered a standout performance at the vertical bowl in Ostia, Lido di Roma. His flawless final run earned him a commanding 94.50 points and the top spot on the podium. Highlights of his winning routine included a backside 540 melon, alley-oop kickflip Indy, Cab 720 Weddle, and a backside Smith grind over the love seat, showcasing a mix of technical skill and bold creativity.
In the Women’s Skateboard Park final, 15-year-old Arisa Trew from Palm Beach, Australia, took second place with an impressive score of 92.43. Representing the Monster Army team, Trew landed a combination of tricks including a McTwist, backside 540 melon, switch McTwist, and a frontside Cab 360 stalefish to earn her place on the podium.
Olympic silver medalist and X Games champion Cocona Hiraki of Hokkaido, Japan, claimed third place with a dramatic final run. After being bumped out of podium contention earlier in the finals, the 16-year-old Monster Energy rider came back strong, scoring 91.62 points with a sequence that featured a backside kickflip in the deep end, kickflip Indy over the channel, and a frontside Smith grind to feeble spine transfer.
The 2025 WST World Cup Rome runs from June 1 to June 15 and brings together the world’s top skateboarders. The event will conclude this weekend with the highly anticipated street skateboarding finals at Colle Oppio Skatepark, overlooking the historic Colosseum.
