The United Way of Central Kentucky (UWCK) will hold its second annual Skydive for Change fundraiser on Saturday, August 23, at the Elizabethtown Regional Airport. The event, organized in partnership with Skydive Kentucky, invites participants to jump from 12,000 feet in support of UWCK’s mission.
The fundraiser will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each skydiver is required to raise $1,500 for UWCK’s Operation Good Neighbor program. This program helps at-risk residents stay in their homes by connecting community volunteers, organizations, schools, and churches across five counties: Hardin, Meade, Breckinridge, LaRue, and Grayson.
This year, local businesses can support their employees’ participation by sponsoring their fundraising efforts. If an employee falls short of the $1,500 goal, the business will cover the difference.
“Our first Skydive for Change event was a great success,” said UWCK President Christa Shouse. “It raised important funds for Operation Good Neighbor and brought the community together for an exciting day. We look forward to making this year’s event even bigger.”
UWCK is currently seeking skydivers willing to take part and raise funds. Participants can raise money individually or on behalf of their business or organization. Each jumper receives a personalized fundraising website to share with friends, family, and coworkers. The deadline to register is August 10.
All participants will receive training from Skydive Kentucky before the event.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and individuals interested in supporting the event.
