ATLANTA — Kim Knor, an 86-year-old skydiver, is on a determined quest to reach 1,000 jumps.
She recently stopped at Skydive Atlanta over Memorial Day weekend as part of her nationwide tour. Knor has been skydiving since she was 20 years old.
Knor made history as a member of the first-ever U.S. Women’s Parachute Team. She also holds a World Champion title.
Now, she aims to earn the official gold wings from the United States Parachute Association. These wings are awarded to skydivers who complete 1,000 jumps. Knor has already completed nearly 800 jumps. She plans to reach 1,000 tandem jumps by 2026.
For Knor, the best part of her skydiving journey is the people she meets along the way.
“I just love all of the people that I’m meeting,” she said. “Drop zones are different everywhere you go, but people bring positive energy. The fun is what it’s all about.”
