Maciej Kojro, a student of agri-engineering at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr), secured both gold and silver medals at the 2025 Polish Academic Mountain Biking Championships.
Held in Kraków’s Wolski Forest, the event brought together top academic cyclists from 38 universities across Poland. A total of 168 athletes — 43 women and 125 men — competed on a challenging 4-kilometer course featuring steep climbs and technical descents filled with berms, drops, and tabletops. Riders needed strong fitness, sharp technical skills, and composure under pressure to succeed.
Kojro delivered an outstanding performance across both days of competition. In the individual time trial, he placed second overall in the OPEN category and first among students from universities of social and life sciences. He repeated this achievement in the mass start race the following day, once again finishing second in the OPEN and winning gold in his university classification.
“This is my fifth season in the cycling peloton, but sport has been a part of my life since early childhood,” Kojro said after the race.
His double podium finish highlights both his dedication to the sport and the strength of UPWr’s presence at national-level academic competitions.
