As summer temperatures rise across China, indoor ski resorts are becoming popular spots for people seeking relief from the heat.

One standout destination is the Shanghai L+SNOW Indoor Skiing Theme Resort. Covering more than 98,000 square meters, it is the world’s largest indoor snow park. In recent days, the resort has seen a steady flow of visitors eager to enjoy the cool environment.

A skier from Singapore shared her experience: “It’s pretty cool. I come from Singapore where it’s summer all year. I wanted to find an indoor place to have fun. I plan to spend the weekend here because I have visited other indoor ski resorts, but this one seems better with more facilities and thoughtful services.”

Since opening in September last year, the resort attracts over 6,000 visitors daily on holidays. The popularity has also boosted business for nearby hotels, with booking rates reaching nearly full capacity.

To attract more tourists this summer, the resort has partnered with these hotels to offer special service packages. These include skiing and water facility access, along with various discounts.

Li Ling, marketing director of the resort, said, “We have launched a service package that has been well received, especially by families with children.”

In Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province in southern China, another indoor ski resort offers five different slopes to suit skiers of all skill levels. Visitors can choose between skiing and snowboarding.

A skier from Hong Kong said, “This place is especially busy on weekends. Nearly half of the visitors come from Hong Kong.”

Last year, the Guangzhou resort welcomed more than one million skiers. Almost 30 percent of them traveled from Hong Kong and Macao. This rise in visitors is partly due to eased travel within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Meanwhile, visitors seeking other ways to beat the heat can try river rafting at the Gulongxia scenic spot in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. The area recently upgraded its rafting route, which now has the longest drop in Guangdong—378 meters.

The rafting course offers guests an exciting adventure, beautiful views, and a refreshing way to cool off during hot summer days.
