28 May 2025 — Lost Shore Surf Resort, Europe’s largest inland surfing destination, is set to launch a new Kids Surf Camp this summer. The week-long camp aims to build surfing skills, boost confidence, and inspire a love for the sport among children aged 8 to 16.

The camp will run weekly from 30 June through the end of August 2025 at the resort’s state-of-the-art wave pool. It welcomes both complete beginners and young surfers looking to advance their technique.

Each session is led by experienced and qualified instructors from Lost Shore’s coaching team. Campers will take part in daily 1.5-hour lessons that combine on-land training with in-water practice. The programme is structured to help participants move from basic skills—like popping up on a board—to confidently catching and riding waves.

“Our mission at Lost Shore is to get the next generation excited about surfing,” said Lee Wood, Director of Surfing at Lost Shore Surf Resort. “Our wave pool is a safe and fun space where kids can learn the fundamentals without the unpredictability of the ocean. But surfing is more than just a sport. It teaches patience, balance, resilience, and brings a sense of adventure. It keeps kids active and helps shape a positive mindset for life.”

The coaching team includes standout talent such as 19-year-old Craig McLachlan, a four-time Scottish National Surfing Champion in the Open Men’s category. McLachlan will represent Scotland at the upcoming Eurosurf event in Portugal this July and is preparing for the ISA World Surfing Games in El Salvador this September.

The Kids Surf Camp takes place from Monday to Friday each week. Drop-off is at 9:00 a.m. at the Lost Shore reception, with sessions ending at 11:00 a.m. Campers receive hands-on coaching from ISA-certified instructors with more than a decade of experience.

The curriculum covers core surfing techniques including paddling, stance, wave catching, board handling, and even tricks.

Lessons are tailored to suit individual skill levels. In addition to structured instruction, the camp includes games, challenges, and tips to keep children engaged and progressing.

Wetsuits and boards are provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own gear. Children should come equipped with a swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen.

With an emphasis on safety, inclusivity, and fun, Lost Shore’s Kids Surf Camp promises to deliver an unforgettable summer experience for young surfers of all abilities.
