Free Entry as The Big 10 Marks a Decade of Grassroots Growth and Cultural Impact.
Culver City, CA — On Saturday, May 17, 2025, THE SKATESIDE will host its 3rd Annual SKATESIDE FEST at Bill Botts Park, celebrating ten years of empowering youth through skateboarding, roller skating, and community involvement.
What started as a grassroots skate program has grown into one of Los Angeles’ most anticipated family festivals. The event attracts over 3,000 attendees, supports numerous small businesses, and creates inclusive spaces for families to connect, be active, and celebrate together.
The festival features three main zones: the Skatepark Zone sponsored by Converse CONS and Zumiez, the Roller Skate Zone, and the Family Fun Zone powered by Bones Love Milk.
More than just a skate event, SKATESIDE FEST serves as a model for how youth-focused programs can boost economic opportunities and promote community equity. With an expanding vendor market and subsidized lessons for young skaters, the festival demonstrates a sustainable approach to reinvesting culturally and financially in local neighborhoods.
“Elena Di Gianni, co-founder of THE SKATESIDE, said, “THE SKATESIDE began with a simple mission: to get more kids skating. Ten years later, we’re witnessing the ripple effects — increased confidence, stronger connections, and community pride that goes beyond the skatepark.”
The festival’s highlights include free beginner skate lessons, contests, family activities, live music, and food trucks. All activities are open to the public, and wristbands are available for those seeking premium experiences.
