Canyon Lake Ski Club Hosts May Open Tournament, Invites Community to Watch Water Skiing Action.
The Canyon Lake Water Ski Club will host its May Open sanctioned tournament this weekend, taking place Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, at the north ski area.
The event kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, starting with a flag salute and music as the first boat navigates the slalom course, proudly flying the American flag.
Spectators are invited to enjoy thrilling performances by water ski champions, both regional and national, with participants ranging in age from eight to 75. A large screen television at the pavilion will offer close-up views of the slalom and trick skiing events, capturing all the high-energy action behind the boat.
At around noon, the event will shift to the jump lagoon on Longhorn Drive, where attendees can witness exhilarating jump skiing, visible from the street.
On Sunday, the tournament resumes at 8 a.m. at the north ski area, starting with another round of slalom skiing, followed by trick skiing.
As one of the longest-established clubs in Canyon Lake, the Canyon Lake Water Ski Club has earned a reputation as one of the country’s top ski clubs. The club has hosted numerous sanctioned tournaments, trained world-class water ski officials, and is home to world, national, and regional champions.
