Mt. Washington, British Columbia, will briefly reopen its slopes this Father’s Day weekend, offering a unique opportunity for skiers to enjoy leftover winter snow.
On June 14 and 15, 2025, the resort will feature a small terrain park located atop the Eagle Chair. The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Winter season passholders can access the area for free, while other visitors must purchase a $19 ticket. Food and drinks will be available at the Eagle View Bistro and Eagle View BBQ during the event.
Skiing will be limited to the rail park only, without full runs. After riding the rails, skiers will return to the top via the chairlift. Despite the limited offering, local reaction has been enthusiastic, with many expressing excitement on social media.
Beyond skiing, Mt. Washington will also offer chairlift sightseeing and zipline tours over the weekend. The resort is preparing to open its bike park as the snow melts, with the official summer season start set for June 27.
Mt. Washington is not alone in hosting late-season snow activities. Copper Mountain, Colorado, plans a summer hike park with real snow. Hyland Hills in Minnesota recently held a rail jam event on stored snow. Trollhaugen, Wisconsin, will reveal its snow stash in October for a pre-season rail skiing event called Open Haugen. In Vermont, Jay Peak will offer skiing during its Solstice Sessions on June 21, alongside live music.
Located on British Columbia’s Vancouver Island, Mt. Washington is one of the region’s few ski areas. It typically receives an average of 354 inches of snow each winter. While summer activities like disc golf and hiking are popular, the resort is making the most of winter’s final snowfall this weekend.
