Singapore’s indoor skydiving team triumphed at the 2025 FAI World Championships in Belgium, winning four medals including gold in the Dynamic 4-Way event. The team’s victory was especially remarkable given they faced a setback just days before the competition when their accommodation was burgled, forcing them to relocate mid-event. Despite this, Kai Minejima-Lee, Vera Poh, Kyra Poh, and Choo Yi Xuan held their nerve to win gold after a tie-breaker against Switzerland.
The team also secured silver medals in Solo Speed Junior (Vera Poh) and Freestyle Open (Kai Minejima-Lee), with Kyra Poh and Choo Yi Xuan taking bronze in Dynamic 2-Way. Newcomer Jordan Lee made his World Championship freestyle debut, finishing 11th among 23 athletes.
Lawrence Koh, CEO of iFly Singapore, praised the athletes’ resilience and mental strength in overcoming the burglary incident while maintaining world-class performance.
Indoor skydiving takes place in vertical wind tunnels with winds up to 300 km/h. The sport includes disciplines such as artistic Freestyle, Speed routines, and team events like Dynamic 2-Way and 4-Way.
Kyra Poh, a key member of the team, returned to competition after a year-long injury hiatus. She and Choo Yi Xuan, known as “Team Firefly,” have a long history together and are considered one of the sport’s most accomplished duos. Poh’s comeback and the team’s strong lineup helped Singapore build on their outstanding 2024 season and cement their status as a global indoor skydiving powerhouse.
This championship marks another milestone for Singapore’s indoor skydiving scene, which has grown significantly from a niche sport to one with multiple world-class athletes inspiring the next generation.
