VENTURA, CA — As summer kicks off and International Surfing Day approaches, the local surf community in Ventura is preparing to celebrate with a special event designed to bring surfers together while giving back to the ocean.

On Friday, the Surfrider Foundation and Ventura-based outdoor brand Patagonia will co-host a Surf Tuneup event in downtown Ventura. The gathering is part of the lead-up to International Surfing Day, which takes place on Saturday.

  • Live music performances
  • Local food booths
  • A surfboard swap
  • A friendly ping pong tournament

In the spirit of sustainability, Patagonia’s repair team will service wetsuits from any brand, encouraging surfers to extend the life of their gear rather than replace it.

Organizers say the event is not only a fun way to kick off the surf season, but also an opportunity to build community and promote environmental awareness ahead of the international day honoring surf culture and ocean conservation.

With summer officially starting and surf conditions looking promising, local wave riders are hoping for clean swells to mark the occasion.
